Kimono Experience at Kyoto, Japan

5 days in Osaka really is quite too much. Honestly, Osaka isn't a very exciting place for me. So, on the 4th day, I decided to go back to Kyoto again. Not that I feel Kyoto is much better than Osaka, but at least I saw people can dress up there and take some selfies in kimonos.

I thought that I can arrive Kyoto a bit earlier than the day before, but as mentioned before, my idiotic friend fell asleep on the train and went to Nagoya. I waited over an hour for the idiot to get back to Kyoto and we ended up touring Kyoto just as late as we were the day before.

Without wasting anymore time, we headed to the first kimonos renting place we saw in the Kiyomizu-dera area, which I thought was a rash decision as the first one is always the most expensive. However, if we walk to the further ones, it will take another 30min or so and it was already after 3pm. The setting up will take around 40mins and everything need to be return around 6:30pm. So, we just paid the extra to get everything set up and over with by paying more at the first shop we saw.

This place has 2 price.  3,500 yen for the pre-set kimonos and 4890 yen for the better looking kimonos.  I chose the expensive one and added the hair setting.  So, it turned out to be super expensive and it was too late when I realized it.  I kind of regret it...but then I comfort myself by saying it's only a one time thing and I didn't spend much money on anything else on this trip anyways...

I picked a pink one with some cherry blossoms on it.  The lady was very quick in doing my hair.  I was very very very amazed.  I don't know how she did it, but she managed to curl my hair in minutes WITHOUT heat!!!!  Wearing kimonos is hard work.  They kept stuffing me with towels.  I had 4 or 5 towers wrapped around my waist and even some on my shoulder.  It was very tight and warm around the waist area.

Even the guys can dress up too.  You lots of guys and girls in kimonos.  Is it call kimonos for guys?  I really don't know.

It was fun walking around in these ancient looking street with kimonos.  Lots of opportunities for selfies.  I think I took like 500 selfies that day...Yes, I am crazy, but I paid like US$100 for my kimonos, I better make good use of the money!

Lots of other girls in kimonos!

Really admire how quickly they did my hair.  It was like 15 minutes or less.
