Honey Secret - Yuen Long, Hong Kong

It's another super hot summer weekend in Hong Kong.  A good time for some cold slushy and desserts for afternoon tea!  A great time to take my granny out on a girls date to let her get some fresh air.  Well, air can't be that fresh in Hong Kong.  Anyways, we found this desserts place in Yuen Long.  Saw some of the amazing pictures online and decided to give it a try.

We ordered some Chinese desserts and some western desserts.

First of, we ordered their signature dessert Honey Secret.  I love the presentation of this.  It's flaky pastry inside this light crispy sugar ball.  Underneath is a little bowl of chocolate syrup.  On the other end of the dish is vanilla ice cream with a hint of coconut.  It's this dessert that lured me to this place.

I smashed through the sugar mesh ball to get to the little flaky puffs.

Sugar and chocolate on a flaky puff.  You can't really go wrong with the combination.  But is it really that good in taste?  I say not.  The presentation is better than the taste.  Maybe it's the cheap chocolate syrup? Or the not so fresh puff?  Or the not so smooth ice cream?  I don't know, the taste just didn't wow me.  The whole thing looks nice though.  That's all I can say,

Next we ordered the Rum Chocolate Volcano thingy.  I can't remember the name. It was on flame when it arrived.  I couldn't quite catch it in the camera though.  This tastes better than the Honey Secret.  Inside the mountain is a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

We also ordered some Chinese desserts.  I don't know what this is called in English.

There are lotus seed and an egg in it.  Yummy.

Next we have the sago + mango + pomelo soup thingy.  Love how there are the regular sago and some crunchy ones.  I have no idea what the crunchy little balls are call, but I love them!

It's probably 36 degrees out there.  We can to get some slush to cool down.  We got the grape slushy.

And a chocolate slushy.

The bill comes to HK$264.  This is quite expensive for something in Yuen Long, I think!

Address: Shop 15, G/F, Block B, Ho Shun Yee Building, 9 Fung Yau Street East,Yuen Long
