It is my second time visiting Taichung. The first time was quite a few years back. At that time, I was with a bunch of friends. That meant we were always drinking heavily and thinking back, I had no idea what we saw and did. I think it was a good trip though...friends, booze, laughter....that is all I can remember from my previous Taichung trip.
So, this time, I am trying to really take a look at what Taichung is like. After landing at Taichung airport, it was still pretty early, and it wasn't time to check in yet. So, we dropped off our bags at the airbnb host and took a taxi to 香蕉新樂園 Xiang Jiao Xin Le Yuan for lunch. I thought this place would be serving Taiwanese food. Turns out they do dim sum, very much similar to the things I would get in Hong Kong. Do Taiwanese have the same type of dim sum as Cantonese?
I love the decoration of this place. That's the main reason I came here. I didn't come for the food. It was just for pictures....more accurately, it was for selfies~
It's like I went to a history museum. I felt like I traveled back in time to see Taiwan from a few decades ago.
There's a salon corner.
Old school books on display.
A snack shop?
On the second floor there is a display for lots of vintage toys~
So, after a whole bunch of pictures take, the food came. Dim sum~ They are pretty good.
At the check out counter, there is a candy shop/souvenir shop. Vintage candies~
They have these postcard that the receive can turn into little plush dolls~ Very cute.
