More than just Korean Food in Seoul
After going to Seoul so many times, it's no longer just about eating Korean food in Seoul anymore. The more we go, the more we want to eat Korean version of white people food. First white people food we go for is Hotel de GGOODD (Eat 166). A cozy little restaurant in Yeonnam-dong. They seem pretty popular on the internet. To avoid any queues, we went for early dinner at 5pm. To our surprise, there was no queue anymore. Maybe there are just too many options nearby. Plenty of Korean pasta restaurants that are amazing nearby, so no line ups at Hotel de GGOODD anymore. But this doesn't mean their food isn't good. It's still amazing~
Really creamy rose bacon pasta.
Truffle french toast was really creamy and heavy. I thought a little toast won't be me full, but I was soooo wrong. The amount of butter used made me full with just 2 mouthful.
As much as we love white people food, we still need to have some authentic Korean food. Went to Boseung Hall Yeonnam 보승회관 연남직영점 (Eat 167) for some cold noodle and pork bone stew. Love that they serve a single person portion pork bone stew.
Can't say we went to Seoul without having some Korean barbecue. Went to the Marbling House (Eat 168). Pricing not cheap, but well worth the quality. There is only 2 set meal to choose from. We got the one that has everything. The set is really good for 3 people at least. Sooooo much food!
The staff there helps us cook the meat through out the entire meal and teach out the best way to enjoy the meat. So, not a single piece of the amazing beef was over cooked.
Dubai chocolate mochi is a big hit in Korea now. Seeing them being sold in convenience store and basically all bakeries and dessert places. Tried a couple from both convenience store and a cafe that features selling them. Convenience store one is 4500 won. The one from a cafe is 6000 won. I didn't taste any difference. Both are good though. So, I'd stick with the cheaper option.
Yeonnam-dong is covered with cafes. We just randomly went on Google map to find one with a good rating. Went to Cafe JamJam (Eat 169).
I'd say it's overrated. Food was not good. It's not disgusting, but just not good. Nothing was hot, not even warm. Quite disappointing. Nonetheless, the place was jam packed, which I did not understand why.
Not being satisfied by Cafe JamJam, we needed to find something happy to eat. Came across Antique Coffee. The pictures of their cakes were amazing! They have a long table lined with cakes. We went for the strawberry basque cheesecake.
Super creamy in the middle, then sweet, crunchy and butter on the edges. Really good.
Of course, there's coffee to go with the sweet cakes.
When we are kind of full or just don't want to sit down from a complete meal. We would go to the tents that starts operating in the afternoon and just have some snack. Cheap and filling.
Consuming some vitamins from all the liver/sundae.
Ended the trip with a quick dinner from a convenience store. Some burgers from the fridge~
Can't say they are amazing, but very decent.
