Yacchaba Japanese Restaurant - Honolulu, Hawaii
Why is Hawaii filled with Japanese people? Anyways, we went for some Japanese food. We all love Japanese food. How can anyone not, right? Found Yacchaba around the corner, looked at their menu at the door and decided to give it a try.
There were quite a few things we wanted to try. First off, we ordered beef carpacio. We haven't had beef carpacio for a super long time. It's not a popular dish in Hong Kong. It tastes better than it looks. However, a little too chewy for our taste.
Then it's the tofu salad. It's not a wow, but not bad.
Then we ordered a fermented eggplant. While Cho's comment is, "Meh, I can't even remember what it tastes like. Must not be too good.", I think it was good. Soaked in their sweet soy sauce.
Then we ordered a grilled meat platter. We love this. Whatever they smoked it with, it added that extra touch to the juicy meat.
Chikuwa --- deep fried. Anything is good deep fried.
Grilled cod. Sweet and yummy as usual. I hate fish, but this is the only kind of fish I enjoy.
Then some seared salmon sushi. Seared sushi is always good as well.
Then we saw their raw egg with rice on the menu and decided to order it. They claim their eggs are from Japan and it's produced in a special way so it's safe to consume even when raw. And I have tried eggs in Japan before and somehow it do taste different. So, we ordered a bowl of egg and rice.
Quite disappointed with this raw egg. It tastes just like any other raw egg. Their soy sauce to go with the egg wasn't special too. And this dish was US$12, if I remembered correctly. Not worth it at all.
This isn't a very cheap restaurant. For the 3 girls, the dinner came to a total of US$97.38.
Yacchaba is at point 13 in Places Part 1 on the map below:
