Alpacas at Kensington Prairie Farm - Langley

Been seeing some articles online about visiting alpaca farms near Vancouver.  So, we went googling and found that Kensington Prairie Farm is the only alpaca farm that is open to public.  We drove almost an hour to the farm to check out the place.  We called before going to ensure that it is open to public and the entrance fee.  They say entrance fee is free and is only open on weekends.

Sure enough it is free for entrance to the farm, but very different from what I imagined.  Totally not the owner's fault.  I should have asked for more detail.  Turns out the alpaca is spread out through many different lot on the farm and we cannot see it up close like the alpaca farm in Taichung, Taiwan.  There are guide tours on weekends if you book ahead, but even so, people can't walk onto the field and touch the alpaca as the owner said people by brings germs with along with them and get the animals sick.  The pictures are really just want you can see.

There is a little shop on the farm selling alpacas byproducts like alpacas meat, soap and clothings.  The place gives me a feeling that it's more like a hobby and interest to the own and care for alpacas for the owner rather than a farm for public.  It's a good place to shop for alpacas related products, but don't expect to be seeing alpacas up close where you can pet them.

Kensington Prairie Farm is at point M in Places Part 5 on the map below:
