Ancient Town - Hoi An, Vietnam

Although Angsana Lang Co is far very everything, they do provide complementary shuttle to Hoi An.  They told us that it takes about 1 hour from the resort to Hoi An Ancient Town, but it's really 2 hours.  Luckily, we didn't need to go to the bathroom.

The little van has wifi, so to keep us entertained for the 2 hour ride.  The Ancient Town is super touristy.  It is streets after streets of shops selling over priced local style clothing that you probably won't wear when you get home (some do look ok when going to the beach though).  There are no chain convenience store like 7-11.  However, they have some local small scale store that sells way over priced drinks and snacks.

Once we got off the shuttle, people are already coming up to us to sell us to take the boat ride.  The boat is quite small and doesn't look pleasing to get on.  The river isn't that big anyways, so we didn't feel it was worth it to get on.

The place look gorgeous at the sky went dark.  The streets are lined with lanterns.  Good for photos.

Lots of random things sold on the street.

Can't believe it could get so cold in Vietnam that we actually had to borrow a Northface jacket from the resort...

There are some food carts along the street.  We have a weak stomach, so we didn't want to take the risk of getting sick.

We felt that Ancient Town was the only place worth going throughout our trip.  I am sure others will think otherwise.  However, the other places are just too local, to under developed.  We weren't prepared for a place so "traditional" and so "local".  Ancient Town is just right.  Not too dirty.  Not to run down.  Nicely decorated with good looking restaurants.

Ancient Town is at point 3 on the map below:
