Lunch at Kingyo - Downtown Vancouver, Canada
Kingyo has been one of our favorite Japanese restaurant. Cute design but very busy restaurant. Always need to wait for a table, which is good. At least that means the food is going fast so things should be fresh.
July Special! Ordered their Kingyo Poke Bowl~
Ahi Tuna. Good. But it was still very frozen when served...should have waited a few more minutes before we ate it...
Ebimayo. I love ebimayo, but then I have never had a bad ebimayo in any restaurants before. So, I guess it's a dish that's to screw up.
This is part of the July Special's beef tongue something something....not as expected. It tasted more like beef jerky you would get in convenience store. Not recommended.
Then we got the kobe beef grill on hot stone. Can't really tell it's good beef. It really just tasted like normal beef. Not much beef flavor and not very tender. The presentation is fun, but taste-wise...not very good.
Then we got the negitoro avocado bowl. Too much rice and very little negitoro. It felt like we were just eating rice mainly and not much flavor at all.
Then the July Special poke bowl. Again, a lot of rice and veggie. Very little fish at all. It was like eating a veggie bowl.
We were quite disappointed with their lunch. It was our first time having lunch there. We have only been there for dinner before. It feels like they keep all the good food and cuts for dinner and serve all the scraps of food for lunch? I still like the restaurant, but definitely won't be going there for lunch anymore. Dinner only.
Kingyo is at point V in Places Part 3 on the map below:
