Sea to Sky Highway - BC, Canada
Some people say driving on the Sea to Sky Highway be on on the bucket list of things to do at least once in your life. I do agree. It's just so beautiful! The weird thing is that it wasn't the first time I drove on the Sea to Sky Highway. I just never realise how gorgeous the view is until this time I went. I guess as you age, the things you appreciate would be different. Sad to admit, I am getting old and I am really starting to appreciate nature and scenery that I have probably come across many times before when I was younger. I remember going on road trip with my family as a kid and thought it was boring. I didn't understand why the adults would want to drive hours and hours just to look at some salmon swim on the stream to mate and lay eggs. I didn't see the beauty in it back then no matter how much my mom tried to explain to me.
One great thing about living in Vancouver is that it is in the middle of everything. It's close to the business area, surrounded with many amazing restaurants, close to the international airport and plenty of nature within a couple hours of driving.
We decided to head to Whistler for a night and then to head up to Joffre lake. It's less than a 2 hour drive to Whistler and with all the amazing view points along the way, it won't feel like 2 hours at all as we kept on stopping to enjoy the views and parks along the way.
We were so lucky that it was a sunny day!
There are small signs along the highway indicating the upcoming view point. We needed to pay close attention and alert as the signs are small and they give very short notice. For this point g in Places Part 3 on the map below.
After a quick stop, it's time to get back on the road again.
And what's a road trip without getting a little loss and trespassing into areas that you shouldn't, right? Being the bimbos that we are, we drove into a small road to see if we can get close to the gorgeous river that we saw while driving on the highway. Realized that it was a very very narrow pebble road that fits only 1 car at a time. Cars that drove in were trucks or mountain climbing jeep. We felt so out of place in a tiny old Mercedes. Felt like the car was going to fall off the cliff and got us so scared. Following 2 pictures were taken when we got stuck on the narrow road next to the cliff at point h in Places Part 3 on the map.
More driving after Cho's amazing driving skill of getting us off the narrow road.
It's just so pretty on any random road.
Another view point with a pretty rapid river. Pictures taken near point i in Places Part 3 on the map.
Then another view points which we did not take note of where. But it's along the way back to Vancouver.
Can't wait to go back to Vancouver again.
