Nanshan Shenzhen - Cashless in Shenzhen w/o China bank account and phone number

Upset that I was not able to eat or buy anything the last time I went to Shenzhen.  Been googling how to expense in China without a local China bank account and a local China phone number.  Turns out now they accept payment from AlipayHK and WeChat app for taxi, transportation and for buying food and shopping.  Still, I don't know how people from foreign countries can survive in China if they are neither a mainlander or Hong Konger.

Saw there is a McDonald's exhibition in ShenZhen from Nov 29, 2023 to Jan 2, 2024.  As a McDonald's fan, I just had to go take a look.  The exhibition was within O.Power Culture & Art Centre (See 3)

There wasn't much inside to see and the line was long.  Needed to wait over an hour for it.  So, I didn't go inside, but this is it.  So, not worth to wait an hour for it in my opinion.

Lots of big open space in O.Power with some IGable coffee shops.  Saw quite a few groups of girls taking probably a thousand selfies with a professional photographer.

Across the street is the Oct Park.  So, plenty of food options.

Then took the subway and headed to Yitian Holiday Plaza 益田假日廣場 (Shop 2).  Again, just used AlipayHK to ride metro and it works~  Find it annoying to have to go through security check in subway like going through the airport though.  Lots of cheap eats in the mall.

Wanted something more on the the western side for food.  Went to Gaga (Eat 3) on B1 floor of the mall.

Self serve to get our own table and self serve to order food with the QR code on the table.  This time I have my WeChat and AlipayHK set up...finally I can survive in China.  Scanned the QR code with WeChat and it guided me to their online menu, placed order and paid with WeChat pay charging my credit card.

Ordered a fruit tea, which was disgusting in my point of view.  I think all fruit teas are disgusting.  Taste like medicine.

Got a platter with sliders, fries, corn and chicken wings.

Truffle pasta with grilled chicken

Beef and kimchi rice.

Total was about HKD 275.  Not super cheap compared to what people have been telling me, but still cheaper than in Hong Kong for the quality I got.

There is a Gundam Base (Shop 3) in the mall on B1.  Just like the other Gundam Base I have seen.

Lots of different lemon tea shop lately.  Went to Uncle Q at B2 for one.  Refreshing.  Again, no issue ordering and paying with WeChat pay without link to China phone number or a China bank account.

Checked out the bookstore Sysphe there as well.  Don't recall seeing any English books.  All Chinese books are in simplified Chinese as expected.

Paid with AlipayHK smoothly.  They wrap it up so neatly too.  Great customer service.

Bored of shopping in the mall and went across the street to Europe Impression (See 2).  It's free section of the park.  Again, lots of girls taking selfies.  But not very nice place at all.  Ghetto and small.  Not even 5% of what the real thing would look like.

Got bored quickly and took subway to Houhai Station and got out of the exit where OK Mall (Shop 4) is to look around.  There is a long walk way connecting different malls.

Drones sending out packages.  Soon, all humans can be fired from their jobs.

Along the bridge connecting to the malls, there are numerous restaurants and shops.  Spent around 40 CNY at the claw machine shop and got 3 plushies.  only 1 CNY per try.

Many silver accessories shops around as well.

Got myself a jasmine milk tea.

Then again, more walk to Raffles City (Shop 5).  The same old brands but less people in Nanshan area.

Ended the day with dinner at 老碗會 Laowanhui at B1 of Raffles City.

Ordered a few random stuff.
Saw a weird name for a veggie dish.  I have no idea what kind of veggie this is, but it was good.

The lamb and beef skewers were better than I thought.  Not dry at all.  Juice and tender.

They say they use quality meat.

A big bowl of super thick noodle.  Smother in chili oil.  Surprising not that spicy, but too oily for me.

Deep fried pork is same old same old.

Pork in a flaky bun is ok.  No wow effect.

For everything I ordered, it was only 138 CNY.  No wonder Hong Kongers are spending their weekends in China.
