Seoul - Fall 2024 Day 1 - Salmon Noodle and more eating and shopping in Hongdae and Yeonnam Dong

We have been wanted to eat salmon in the form of noodle from this restaurant, Mibbedong (Eat 147) since a few years ago when we walked passed it. However, we were always too full and never got a chance. This time round, we go straight to the restaurant for our first meal in Seoul. It was early around 5pm and people were already lining up.

Not a very big menu. We had to order before sitting down.

They got little cards introducing the dish we pick and how to eat it. Cute.

I ordered an uni and toro rice bowl. It looks pretty, but honestly not very good. Got some fishy taste to it.

Then of course we go the salmon noodle in cold broth.

Not fishy at all. Very refreshing.

Then we also got a salmon platter. Delicious.

Wandering around the area and saw a lot of people lining up and the area was filled with the aroma of freshly baked bread. Had to check it out. It's the famous salt bread. Before I had them, I thought they were just plain old dinner rolls and didn't understand what was with all the hype. Jayeondo Sogeumppang (Salt Bread) in Yeonnam (Eat 149).

Got ourselves an order which comes with 4 buns. Cost 12000 won. Quite expensive for some plain old buns.

Not very big buns. But they were so warm and light and crispy on the outside and flaky on the inside. It's like a super flaky yet soft croissant. Hard to explain. The buttery flavor is super strong and rich. Super delicious. I finally understood why people were lining up.

With the weekend starting, there were stalls opening up around the area. Lots of random stuff to buy. Things that people don't really need but end up buying anyways.

It was a Halloween weekend. Very busy in the Hongdae area where many people were dressing up. It was busy, but not too crowded. No crazy pushing or rowdy people at all.
