Day 1: Arriving in Hongdae - Airbnb

I went to Seoul again just before Halloween of 2015.  Didn't get a chance to post this until now.  I took a late afternoon flight to Seoul from Hong Kong.  I flew on HK Express.  The plane looks old and small, yet comparing to Jeju Air, it's more comfortable.  At least HK Express will turn on some air conditioning.  I remember the last time I flew on Jeju Air to Seoul, they basically had no air conditioning and I felt like I was going to suffocate there.  But then again, Jeju Air plane ticket's price will include a 15kg luggage, while HK Express required me to pay extra to bring luggages.  I really don't know which is a better deal.

By the time I arrived to Hongdae, which is where the studio I booked from Airbnb is, it was already 11:30pm.  We were already pretty tired out from work the previous day and from the flight.

This is the studio I booked:

My opinion on the place...it's very true to the pictures posted on Airbnb.  It is just a few steps from Exit 2 of Hongik University Station.  The host is very nice and responded very quickly.  Communication was easy as the host speaks English pretty well.  We mainly communicated with Kakao Talk.

The room/apartment is very big.  I think 4 people will be able to stay here comfortably.  I like the place very much other than the fact that central Air Conditioning for the building was shut down in October.  I think it was for sustainability purposes.  However, it was still quite warm during the time I visited.  We had to open the window to cool the room down, yet there were lots of mosquitoes flying in.  At the end, we closed the window and turn on the fan, which really didn't do much help.  Air circulation was therefore very poor.

The washroom was alright.  It's OK clean.  There's no washer in the room though.  The washer is located in the basement, which I didn't use.  There was a kitchen, but we were just so busy going out each day that we never got a chance to use it.  They even had a computer there.  I was always so tired from sight seeing and walking all day that I never used it.  I mainly use my phone for everything anyways.

I stayed here for the first half of the trip and moved to another building later when more friends came to join us.  We needed a room with 4 beds at least.

I have mixed feelings about this place.  I love hate it.  I like how roomy it is and how well equipped it is.  I don't like how there is no AC though!
