Goddess-like dress on Taobao~

I was bored and was “window shopping” at www.taobao.com again. Saw this dress that looked quite pretty in my opinion. It’s white, it’s flowy, it’s blingy. That’s pretty much almost everything I like. I contemplated for a couple weeks before I bought it. Took me so long since I needed to make sure I still like it after look at the pics for 2 weeks and to read through the comments from the people who bought the dress and to check out other shops selling the same dress and compare the prices. At last I picked the shop that is selling the dress for $155RMB. There are other shops selling the same thing for $37RMB.

From my past experience with taobao, the cheaply priced ones have really bad quality. They usually can’t with stand the washing machine more than a few times and the beads on the dress will probably fall off easily. Also, from the close up pictures of the different shops selling at different prices, the shops with a cheap price has the beads sewn on sparsely, whereas the more expensive ones are sewn closely together. The beads they use are different as well. Instead of using the cheap foggy dull looking plastic beads on the cheap dress, the more expensive dresses use really blingy beads.

Anyways, I got my dress after about 5 days of ordering. When I first got it, it was just way tooooo big for me. I got it in size L. It has soooo much fabric that it seems like I was a little kid wearing her mother’s dress or like the creepy Sadako in the movie “The Ring”. I asked my dad to cut off the bottom for me. (I don’t know how to sew. My dad does…ashamed of myself.) The took off about 2-3 inches at the bottom. Also asked him to add 2 little hoops on the side so I can wear a little belt/ribbon on my waist to make it look less out of size. The fabric is a little stiff. So, it’s not as flowy as it seems in the pictures, but it’s not too bad.

Aside from the dress being too big, I really like it. With that price, there is no way I can get that kind of quality in Hong Kong. I mean, I can get a plain dress and sew the beads on with my own hands. I did try that once on an evening gown and it took me a day to sew on 20 beads. WTF! I was so pissed with little holes on my fingers. By the end of the day, I just paid my sister Cho to do it for me. I am just not a crafty person. I can paint, but I can’t do crafts.

As you can see, the beads quality is pretty good and quite nicely sewn on.

Here are the pics they put on their shop:

They claim that the above is the shot of their product.  But then there are a zillion other shops using the same pictures.....

It's supposed to be a replica of this dress.  I am not much into fashion.  So, no idea which brand this dress is from.
