皇朝漁苑 Royal China Aqua Garden @ Taipo, Hong Kong

It's my father's birthday and how can we not celebrate it at one of his favorite restaurants.  Well, I am not sure if this is one of favorites, but it's definitely one that he approves of.  He is a super picky eater, he bans 99% of the restaurants we bring him to.  This is one of the very very very few places that he approves of.  This restaurant is located in a super remote area.  I don't know how anyone can get here without driving.

Right outside the front of the restaurant, there are a few pretty big tanks full of seafood where you can pick out your dinner!  Fresh!  Looking at these fish, they look more like pets than food to me though.

There were also lobsters.  Would be nice to have one for dinner~

You can sit outside and enjoy some fresh air, but it was quite chilly that night and so we sat inside instead.

The inside is very spacious and comfortable too.  Sometimes I wonder how this place survive. The purpose of existence seems to be burning money.  There are rarely any customers here.  I have never seen this place packed whether it's dinner time or lunch time.  This place is so remote and so expensive, hard for people to come everyday.

I like how this place is pretty clean.  Hate it when the table cloth has holes and stains, which is quite often in regular Chinese restaurants.

I love the food at this restaurant.  Unfortunately, I just had a real bad stomach flu a few days before and was not able to enjoy most of the food.  I only took a tiny bite of each dish.

Fried pigeons.  Saying this in English sounds so bad.  It sounds much better in Chinese.  In English, it sounds quite cruel to be eating a pigeon.  I usually love eating this.  However, my weak stomach couldn't take in the oiliness.  It sure smell delicious though!

Then there is the deep fried oyster.  Crisp on the outside and juicy on the inside.  No stinky fish smell at all.

Then here is the stir fried oysters.  I don't know if stir fried is the word, but who cares.  It's good.

I don't know what type of shell fish this is called, but it tastes so much better than the usual smaller ones we have.  It's so fresh.

Steamed garlic shrimps.  Yummy!  It's hard for this dish to not be yummy, unless you have crappy old shrimps that's been dead ages ago.

Here is a tofu dish with veggies and mushrooms.  Plain but still good.

This is stir fried milk and dried fish stomach.  Again, "dried fish stomach" sounds bad.  No wonder many western people are disgusted when looking through Chinese menu.

Steamed fish.  I don't like fish, but apparently the others said this was good.

This is pomelo fried chicken.  There's the pomelo fruit underneath the chicken, but for the meat, there is this citrus tangerine flavor.  Loved it.

This looks kind of scary when doing a close up.  No, I didn't eat this.

As I really couldn't eat too much oily food without puking, I ended up mainly eating this plain rice noodle.  It's still good.

Dessert time!  Don't know what it is, but it's good.
The bill came to about HKD$6,000 for 11 people.
