Hong Kong Museum of Art
There are quite a few of museums in Hong Kong and I love visiting them. Not really to get to know the culture or history, but more to get away from people in Hong Kong without locking myself up in my own room.
I have visit all the other museums so many times, so I thought I would give the Art Museum a try, hoping it wouldn't be too boring.
It's next to the Space Museum. An elevator to the entrance.
Admission is just HKD$10! What a deal! To make it even crazier, it's free on Wednesday. I am no longer a student so I don't think I can ever enjoy the free Wednesday entry again, unless I suddenly go crazy and quit my job.
There were a lot of galleries. In this one "All Are Guests", they showed a lot of videos of very random things. Like a day following a cow, or this man who kept piling air filled plastic bag in home. Each video, I thought something big and dramatic would happen at the end, but it turns out that was it. I truly don't understand art. After going through the exhibition, I realized I can make some potential artistic videos too. Maybe a 20 minute video of following my turtle walking around the house or a video of Cho filling the shelves with nail polishes.
Then there is another gallery with wood carvings. Though I don't get the meaning of the art here, but at least it feels more artsy than random videos~
Finally, there are some traditional arts of paintings. A form of art that I am more familiar with.
Then there are more paintings depicting the 4 types of gentle with different types of plants. I can't really associate the plants with the different types of men though.
So, it's kind of weird to see someone who basically has no interest in abstract art and history visit the Museum of Art. Well, this is the reason why! Look at the place! It was pretty much empty! Compared to the street in Hong Kong, I rather be bored in an air conditioned museum than be pushed around outside, especially when I really had nothing to shop for. At least in a museum, I can pick up some knowledge in artsy fartsy stuff.
