Jinya Ramen Bar - Kerrisdale Vancouver, Canada
There's kind of a new ramen place that opened up in Kerrisdale. When I arrived at Jinya Ramen Bar around 7pm, there were already quite a line up for it. I couldn't get a seat until everyone of the member in my party has arrived. Anyway, I waited in line first while my friend came rushing to this place. We waited for about 15 minutes to get a table. The staffs are very friendly. Great service. There aren't a whole bunch of ramen to choose from, which is normal. It seems that any ramen house sell only a few different flavor. Ones that they are best at making.
I got the Jinya No.3. I guess that means it's the third most popular? It's Tonkatsu Assari. It's a pork soup base with pork chashu, kikurage, green onion, my fave egg and spicy bean sprouts. At first, I thought the serving is small, turns out it's just right for me. I was very full with just a bowl of noodle. There's only one piece of pork chashu. So, I guess for someone like Cho, she might want a side order of more chashu. The egg tasted good, but compared to the ones I had in Japan, of course the ones in Japan are better.
The noodle was pretty stiff, just the way I like. I hate soft noodle. The noodle feel machine made though. Maybe I am wrong, but just feel like something from a factory, not very special.
I think overall this place is pretty good taste wise. The service was great. The staffs were very nice. For a bowl of noodle with tax and tips, it was about CAD$13. Now I miss Japan's ramen. They tasted so much better and cheaper too.
Jinya Ramen Bar is at point D in the list "Places Part 2" on the map.
