Cafes Hopping in Bangkok, Thailand

It was a short trip to Bangkok and we have been going through IG to see where to eat and go.  IG keeps promoting various cafes and I gave in to the algorithm and visited to a couple that kept popping up.

CPS Coffee (Eat 13) kept popping up on my IG feed.  They are doing a collaboration with a Korean bakery in the month of July/August.  I was surprised when I finally got there.  It's in a very quiet alley, but the place was so crowded!  Had to wait in line for 30 minutes to order drinks and food.  The place is small and the door kept opening due to the crowd, so it was pretty hot inside.

Practically no empty seat indoor. Everywhere I go, there were people taking selfies.

Ended up sitting upstairs.  Lucky that I found a empty spot while my friends go line up to order food.

Ordered a Thai dirty and a "chocolate milk".  The chocolate milk is not milky and is darker than dark chocolate.  And it didn't taste like chocolate at all.  It was herby.  A flavor I never had in life before, but it doesn't taste bad.

Thai dirty was creamy and nice.

All the signature pastries that is from the collaboration with the Korean bakery were sold out.  We ordered something randomly.  BOTH ABSOLUTELY NOT WORTH THE MONEY.  Chocolate was cheap chocolate.  The cheese and mushroom bread was cold...as in from the fridge kind of cold.

Very expensive in Bangkok for something that tastes so bad.  People were just there because of all the promotions by influencers on IG.  If the coffee shop invest in their food and drinks just as much as they did on the influencers, then they would have return customers.  Honestly, I think 90% of the customers will not return.  Everyone were just there for photos.  The food just isn't enough to get people to go back.  They should be happen if people aren't complaining.

And starting in the afternoon and the following day, my friend was very sick.  Upset and painful stomach through out the night and day.  She couldn't count the times she was in the washroom.  We suspected it was due to the black coacoa drink from CPS...

A second cafe we went to was Holiday Pastry (Eat 14).  They are having a cross over with Garfield and Nekko (a cat food brand) in August.

Really cute Garfield decoration indoor and outdoor.  Lots of people taking pictures.

They had some Garfield and cat food merchandises inside as well.  And if you post a picture on Facebook with their hashtags, you get some Garfield stickers.

We didn't book online a head of time, but the queue wasn't long and only took about 10 minutes for us to get a table.

They were also collaborating with the egg tart shop across the street.  So, they had this giant egg tart / flan available.  Wanted to try, but I wouldn't be able to finish.

Food was ok.  Good place to just chill and relax indoor away from the hot weather outside.

On another day, we went to Dior Gold House (Eat 15) for some cake and tea~  The place seems to be always fully booked.  So, I made a reservation online a week before.

Fancy~  It's both a cafe and a shop.

It was a very expensive cake and tea, but everything was delicately make and delicious.  I usually hate mousse cakes, but these two were amazing.  The white one is their signature honey cake and the green one is pandan.  Both absolutely amazing.  Total cost of 2 drinks and 2 cakes was 2500 Baht.  Nice experience.

Stepping out the cafe is their shop, selling everything from accessories to clothes to bags.  We are too poor to buy anything and plus their prices are more expensive than in Hong Kong.  So, no reason for us to buy it there.

There is also the LV cafe (Eat 16) nearby in Graysorn Village.

We didn't book a table at the LV cafe, so didn't go in.  Instead we went to the LV Visionary Journeys exhibition next to it.  This place still needs booking online, but can be done immediately.  So, that's what we did.  It was too hot outside, so we just needed to get in a place with super strong AC.  Fun for some selfies too.

After going through the exhibition, we get a random prize.  Saw some people got pencils and we got postcards.

To hide from the heat in Bangkok, decided to get a cold matcha latte from Green Thyme Bakehouse (Eat 17) inside Graysorn Amarni.

There are so many different types of matcha to choose from.  Can't remember which one we got but it was amazing.  Very nutty flavor.  Kind of like pistachio.

Lastly, I'd say a cafe from hell.  We were wandering in Ari, which we very much regretted.  It was a hot day, and everything was closed.  We just wanted to find a place to sit down, have a drink where there is AC and wait for our Grab to come.  We found Oh! Vacoda (Eat 18).

This is the worse place we have visited in Bangkok so far.  It is a place that serve avocado food and drinks.  But when we order, they say anything with avocado on the menu is not available.  So, that means there really wasn't much option at all as more than half their menu has avocado in it.

The place was smelly and clammy.  Felt itchy just sitting down.  It was only because outside was too hot and we need a place to cool down while waiting for our Grab that we continued to stay.

Lastly cafe/cake place we went to was Oh My Godmother (Eat 19) inside Emsphere.

Their cakes and tarts are so pretty.  They look like toys.

Got ourselves a corn cream tart.  Yummy.
