Eating our way through Bangkok
Love the variety of cuisines in Bangkok. Plenty of white people food or Thai restaurants. Mostly very affordable too!
One thing great about staying at Novotel Bangkok on Siam Square is that there are so many good food around the hotel. Literally 1 minute walking distance away is an alley lined with food stalls (Eat 20). It's relatively cleaner and more comfortable than other food stalls/alley we went to before. At least the floor is levelled and not wet. Not too crowded and has clean tables.
Lots of locals eating there. There are stalls for noodles, rice and more. Each dish around 60 baht.
Decided to start with some savory pancakes. Each 16 to 25 baht only.
Order 4 different flavors. Our favorites were spinach with cheese and meat floss.
Pork knuckle rice. Really soft and tender, but lots of fatty skin as well. Very flavorful. Not spicy, suitable for people like me that can't take spice.
There are a few noodle stalls. Not much idea what are the different options of topics are, just know it's pork. Really good and only 6 baht.
Neither of us got sick after eating here~
Another place we had Thai food in the area was Pad Thai Mae Thong Bai (Eat 21). Pricier compared to more local places. But because it's for tourists, plenty of AC and less spicy. This place looks like it target mainland Chinese, since they promote themselves on Chinese food app.
Ordered a tom yum soup. Quite expensive, but can taste the prawn they used were fresh.
Crab meat fried rice was good too.
And one of my favorite Thai dish padthai.
910 baht for 3 dishes. Is this too expensive in local standard? But then, when it's 34 degrees outside, the price is worth the AC inside. Can't eat in a hot environment.
Another place we ate at was Jaedang Samyan (Eat 22). Not sure what is the main type of food this restaurant serve. We didn't really understand what the menu says. We just pointed at pictures.
Ordered a dish of fried pig intestine and pork noodle.
The intestine was ok. No weird flavors but not my cup of tea.
The noodle is good but super spicy. Felt like I was going to have a heart attack.
Across from Central World is Big C (Shop 7) and on the 4th and 6th floor is a food court.
The food doesn't look special but taste pretty good. Good for after spending too much shopping because each dish is around 60 baht. So, felt like we are balancing out our day's spending.
We somehow ended up at December's (Shop 8). It's a place that wholesale clothes at a low price. Each piece around 200 baht. The quality not very good at all. So, we just left and outside December's is a street lined with food stalls. Lots of people eating, but we didn't want to sit out on the street for food though. Too many people, too hot.
So many people recommend Copper Beyond Buffet (Eat 23). So, we booked online for the weekend dinner at 1699 baht per person.
For whatever timing booked, people need to go around 15 minutes earlier to sign in for a ticket with a table number. Then people just wait and sit outside until it's time to go in.
In the meantime, we were enjoying the Thai tea slushy to cool down from the hot weather.
Aside from any cooked fish dishes, everything was amazing.
There is a food market outside of Central World (Shop 6). Quite hot and stuffy to eat inside.
So, just stop buy for a fresh coconut.
Ended our trip with a quick stop at Kate Teaw Pok Pok & Tom Yum Noodles (Eat 24). Small dishes but yummy and super spicy.
So spicy that we couldn't finish the minced meat rice but really like the flavors.
