Dongmen Pedestrian Street - Shenzhen
Dongmen is just like how I remember China to be. Sketchy, dirty, dusty, smelly and nasty. We went for the experience and will never go again. Why would anyone want to go there? Or even eat there? No way does it seem safe to eat there at all. The pricing of food is definitely a lot friendlier than the other places we've been to that day. 10 RMB for 20 skewers of meat.
Saw many people lining up for stinky tofu....the tofu is the black stuff in the frier...THE BLACK STUFF! How does that look appetizing???? And looking at the oil....they probably never changed it or it's reused over and over again nonstop.
This place is so crowded. I didn't feel safe. I made sure I wear my backpack in the front.
There were many stalls selling fruits. There is no refridgeration whatsoever. They were all cut up with nothing covering it. Anyone heard of food safety there?
Saw a Tiger Sugar shop there. It's so popular in HOng Kong, but no one was lining up for it in Dongmen. The price was much cheaper too. Made me wonder if it's the real Tiger Sugar at all or not.
More meat on a stick...they love meat on a stick...
The sign says they don't use waste/drainage oil but because they put up the sign, it just makes me believe they actually do.....And that's probably why the food was so cheap?
Then there is the stall selling bugs on a stick!!!! Can't beleive people still eat bugs there.
It's interesting to just take a quick look there, but I see no reason to stay the day or go again. The food doesn't seem safe to eat and the clothing there are those one size fits all type of clothes.
