Heytea at Wanxiang Tiandi - Shenzhen - Overrated?

Every single one of my friends said they love Heytea.  They love it so much that they can drink 2 or 3 cups a day even though they know it's just fat and sugar and they would probably die from drinking it.  Since I always refuse to cross the border to China before, I decided it's time I try out what's so good about their drinks this time in Shenzhen.

I went to the Heytea in Wanxiang Tiandi which is just outside of exit A of Hi-tec Park Station.  This outlet has a pink theme.  So, everything is pink~  Online, I found a picture of what the shop looks like.  So pretty, right?  All pink with a bath tub full of pink balls.

But this is reality.  Super crowded and very small.  There were about a hundred people there trying to grab a drink.  Choas!!!!

I went there pretty early, so the line hasn't form yet, but minutes after I took this picture, a line of about 50 people formed.  Crazy.  Although, I went before the line formed, there were still about 50 orders ahead of me.  People can order online first and pick up later.  Since we are not connected to the China paying system, we had to order in person.  Normally, if I have to wait 50 orders, I'd just forget it and go.  But I was with a couple friends and they wanted to try as well.  So, we might as well just buy and walk around while we wait.

They have a pink phone booth for photo.  Overall, the shop isn't that pretty.  Not a place you would want to take pictures in.  Especially not when there are a hundred people inside lounging around.

So, after around 30 minutes, our order was ready.  We order the taro milk shake-like thing and their famous tea with cheese on top.  Took a sip of the cheesy tea....and it's just runny cream cheese....took another sip with the tea...and it's just tea.....after a few more sip, most of the cheese is gone and you are left with just plain tea....so, what's the hype about this tea????????  I wasted 30 minutes for this and the 2 drinks came to a total of over 50 RMB.  As mentioned before, hourly wage is about 15 to 30 RMB....I won't worth 2 hours for this!  As for the taro, it's better than the cheesy tea.  But still, I won't wait 30 minutes for it.  No wow factor

This Heytea is at point Shop 1 on the map below:
