Pink rice that's only good for pictures at White Button Cafe - Tsim Sha Tsui, Hong Kong
White Button Cafe is somewhat big for a theme cafe in Hong Kong. I was attracted by their pink risotto and decided to go there for dinner. There are many good reviews online about the place and I thought it won't be too bad. Turns out I was wrong. First, they don't have much food choices on their menu, which is OK because they are a cafe afterall, so they probably focus on their drink menu...right?
Anyways, I order the pink risotto. The rice is not those Italian rice normally used for risotto. They use Japanese round rice. The sauce is not real cream. I don't know what they used, there is no cream flavor at all. The scallops were cold. The whole dish didn't have much flavor at all. There were little bits of beet root in it, for the color, but I hate beet root. So, I didn't like how there were pieces of it there. Since the dish didn't have much flavor at all, the taste of beet root was quite strong.
So, we looked forward to their drinks instead. Ordered teh butterfly pea floral tea and a mango soda thingy. The tea didn't have enough tea at all, so it just tasted like water. Even from the color, you can see they didn't add enough. As for the soda, it's really just a soda. They just put it in a globe for visual.
They have an area for people to take pictures. It's nice, but the place is really just for photo. Both the food and drinks are not the main focus in the cafe. The place was fully booked that night I went and most of them were girls. For the tables with guys, they were dragged there by their girlfriends.
