Day 3: Train to Kyoto, shopping there in the morning and warabi

Mission of the day is a day trip to Kyoto.  There are plenty of trains to get to Kyoto.  Google map gave us lots of options. Chose to ride on the local trains to enjoy the view a long the way.  We took the train to Arashiyama Station (Hankyu-Arashiyama Line) (See 71).  It was less than an hour.

It's a rather quieter station.  Love that we were away from the crowds.

We headed out early and was super hungry.  Went into the first convenience store we store at Arashiyama Station and filled ourselves up with onigiri and daifuku, which we shouldn't have.  There are so many interesting restaurants just 5 minutes walk away.

There are bike rentals there at the station too.

Once we got out of Arashiyama Station, just walk North toward the river where the main attractions are.

Came a cross a super cute little restaurant call Arashiyama Itsukichaya (Eat 94) by the river that turns out to be Instagram famous.

It was fully booked.  So, we just got some snacks from their take out shop instead.

Their creme brulee sweet potato was really good.

Beautiful view to eat next to if we have gotten a seat inside.

Then there is the Togetsukyo Bridge (See 69).

Across the river are where all the shops and restaurants are~  If we waited a little longer, we could have had a normal meal.

First came across Arashiyama Miffy Sakura Kitchen みっふぃー桜きっちん 嵐山店 (Eat 96).  They have a bakery inside selling Miffy shaped bread.

Near the Miffy shop is the Kimono Forest (See 70).  It's really just as is shown in the picture.  Nothing more.  It's part of the Arashiyama Station (Randen Line).

We were heading toward the Bamboo Forest and found a shop call Sagano Chikuji-an Main Branch 京嵯峨野竹路庵本店 (Eat 95) selling warabi.

There is very limited seating inside.

Don't know if this is a famous shop for warabi or if it's because it's a touristy area, the warabi was over 1000 yen.  Seem quite expensive compared to other places I saw which were around half the price.  Nonetheless, it was yummy and the texture was just so ooey gooey.  Love it.

There are many more souvenir shops along the way.
