Seoul in Dec 2022 - Day 6 Cafe Layered, Laveniche, Hanuel Park, Samcheongdong, Ikseon Dong

There are so many cafes in Yeonam, walkable from Hongdae. Hard to choose which one to go to. Try to go on weekdays though to avoid the crowd. Some people say the pastries at Cafe Layered (Eat 113) are over rated, but really depends on where you come from. Some places/cities just don't serve good cakes/pastries at a reasonable price. At least I think these taste good. I love how I am surrounded by cakes and scones here. It's not all-you-can-eat. Pick the one you want and pay for it at counter.

Just like many other cafes in the area, it opens up at 11am.

Love this cute little 2 story cafe. Quiet on the 2nd floor on weekdays. I thought I can eat it all, but I was full after eating half the red velvet cake. Lots of different scones to choose from. Got an original and an earl grey flavor. Original is always the best though.

Googled a lot on where else to go in Seoul and found Laveniche (See 65). It is about 40 min on the bus from Hongdae. Pictures of the place online looked so busy and fun. Very disappointed when we got there. No good shop and barely anyone. Maybe it was the time I went? A weekday afternoon. But there isn't any good shopping in the area anyways.

On our way back to Hongdae, got off the bus near Haneul Park (See 15). Taking the bus with the Kaokao map makes it so much easier. Can't believe we only found out about this app now.

Still amazing view up on Haneul Park. We walked up since there isn't a crowd. A nice stroll, not tough at all with the lined stairs and path.

Headed to Samcheong-dong, Insadong and Ikseondong. All with in walking distance to each other. Not many people at all n Dec 2022. Not many Chinese crowded, making it so much easier to walk around.

Ended up in Ikseon Dong to have some Japanese style rice bowl in a cute little Korean style house/store - 욘방 (Eat 131).

Purchase the menu of your choice from a vending machine and the door and be seated. Then staff will serve when food is ready. I think I've had better Japanese rice bowl, but this place isn't bad. Average. More for the ambience/furnishing than for the food there. Also, this place was kind of the only one having a long queue for table...so that says something.
