Seoul in Dec 2022 - Day 2 - Provence Village and Paju Premium Outlet
December in Seoul is super cold. Had a long day and headed out for some hot food at Hongdae Sundae Soup/홍대순대국 (Eat 118) before we headed out. Loving the use of Kakao Map. Allows us to search in English and can give direction on transit since Google map doesn't work in South Korea. Found this restaurant from Kakao Map. Never thought we like Sundae until we tried this place. Very tender innards or meat. Not sure what we ate, but it's pork. Felt great to have something warm in our stomach when it was -10C.
Portions are pretty big! Couldn't finish our breakfast.
Googled for something to do in Seoul that we haven't been and found Provence Village. Couldn't find much information on this place and it's says it's about 40 minutes bus ride from Hongdae. So, much as well try it out ourselves. There is a bus 200 that gets there and almost no stops in between, so we got there is about 30 minutes. Again, loving the Kakao Map app. Without it, I wouldn't try taking the bus when we can't read/speak the language.
Got off the bus in the middle of nowhere, away from tourists and human in general. Already got a feeling this place is probably not as fun as it seems online. Have to walk up this path for about 10-15 min to reach Provence Village (Point See 61).
The entrance of this village already look sad, or maybe it was because of the cloudy sky making it extra gloomy looking. There were barely anyone there.
I'd have to say 90% of the people that visit Provence Village came to Ryoo Bakery & Cafe (Point Eat 119). It's the main attraction in the area. I saw more people in here than anywhere outside. The aroma of the bakery lured us in. Their garlic bread stick was mouth watering.
Still full from breakfast, we couldn't help but some baked goods to further fill our already stuffed stomachs.
The cakes and tarts were just too cute to pass.
With spacious dining area, no reason not to sit down for some cakes and tea. Especially since there is nothing to see outside.
Provence Village was definitely not worth going to. Maybe it was the time of the year? The shops were mostly closed. For those that opened, there were nothing much to buy or see.
Just about 10 -15 minutes by bus from Provence Village, there is Paju Premium Outlet (Point Buy 50)
Was tired and cold. Didn't take much picture of the place. Good outlet, should have something for everyone.
I am pretty sure walking in - 10C for hours had made us sick. By the time we left the outlet around 8pm, our bodies were pretty beat up. Didn't even have much appetite. So, just grabbed a quick dinner at 김장독 (Point Eat 120) in Hongdae. Very nice of the restaurant not to force us to order more food than we could consume.
