Seoul in Dec 2022 - Day 7 Paris Baguette, True Beauty, Sushiro, Yeongdeungpo Underground Shopping, Joy Hobby
Loved Paris Baguette in New York and still love them in Seoul. Not cheap to get sandwiches and patries, but they are all so yummy and looking cute. Can't get myself to stop loving carbs. Grabbed a quick breakfast in one of the many Paris Baguette then walked to the filming location for True Beauty. Just had to go visit Yonsei University (See 66). It's somewhat walkable from Hongdae. If we don't walk, I don't know how to get there though. It's about a 30 min walk. Need to get pass all these alleys.
Finally got there and it just looks like any other universities.
The "school front" that was used in True Beauty is pretty easy to find. It looks quite different than in the K drama though. Still a beautiful beauty, but less bright and red.
Sushiro is constantly packed with people in Hong Kong. Wanted to see what Sushiro is like in Seoul. Headed to the Sushiro outlet (Eat 132) in Times Square at Yeongdeungpo. No line ups and visibly more worn out than the outlets in Hong Kong. But then the outlets in Hong Kong were only established in the last few years, so it's normal.
There is no separate belt for individually ordered dishes. So, needed to pay attention to the notification on the screen when an order is on it's way, so we can catch it before it passes by...
The ingredients seem less fresh and not well put together compared to the ones in Hong Kong. It's wasn't to the point of disgusting, but just no impressed. There are a few dishes that's not served in Hong Kong - eg sushi with kimchi.
Anyways, not very good and it's quite expensive compared to other food that's fresher with a larger portion. No wonder it's not popular to eat in Sushiro there.
Headed to Yeongdeungpo Underground Shopping Mall (Buy 60). A big place but the section for younger people's clothes isn't that big. A lot less people than the last time I went. Maybe will be better when the world forgets about covid.
Just one station from Yeongdeungpo is Sindorim Station. Get out of exit 3 and there is Joy Hobby (Buy 59) inside Sindorim Techno Mart. For all those anime/Gundam fans. The mall isn't very big/pretty, but has a few electronic stores and this Joy Hobby that carries a lot of anime toys. Again, it's not cheap. It's cheaper to get these in Hong Kong.
Ended the day back in Hongdae for some chicken and beer at Noonaholdak Hongdae - Oven Baked Chicken and Beer (Eat 133). Baked really isn't as good as deep fried though.
Love their selections of beer.
