Seoul in Dec 2022 - Day 5 Majang Market, Ihwa Mural Village, Gwangjang Market, Myeongdong
Another day to check how Seoul has changed in the past 3 years. Went to Majang Market. Similar to before, buying the beef and then having it BBQ in a restaurant by paying a cost per person. This particular restaurant the butcher took us to is pricier than the other ones we have been to. Side dishes and vegetable is not AYCE. End up paying quite a lot. Really not worth the long commute to try random restaurants here in my POV. Fun for the first time, but now it seems like I would be paying pretty much the same in hanwoo restaurants.
The meat here is still nice, just too much hassle to commute here if I am not staying nearby.
Wanted to see if the paintings on the walls of Ihwa Mural Village have been all wiped out. And yes, most are gone. Not many people. It's still a nice view at the top, but no more paintings on houses/roads/wall.
There is a cute cat themed cafe near the top. A cute 2 storey cafe 책 읽는 고양이 (Eat 130). Quiet place to sit and chill.
One of the very few walls that has colors left.
It's actually a somewhat walkable distance from ihwa Mural Village to the Gwangjang Market (Eat 6). It's about a 30 minute walk. Still a very busy market with lots of food and people
And from Gwangjang Market, it's walkable to Myeongdong too. Another 30 minute or so. Ate at Myeongdong Kyoja (Eat 2). It's been a long time since we last went. Still full of tourists.
Myeongdong isn't quite the same as before. Lots of shop fronts are empty. Less people, less vendors.
It's mainly just street food that are over priced. Not really worth going at the time I went.
