Tokyo 2023 - Convenient Store Food

Japan really has some of the best convenient store treats by far. Honestly many if not most of the foods sold in the convenient stores exceed restaurant quality in Hong Kong. So here is a list of all the items I ate and my review.

1. Coffee Jelly:

This is one of the things I look the most forward to as it is something I had constantly as a child. It is the perfect coffee candy flavor with the soft jelly goodness. It also has a perfectly shape whipped cream on top... but my husband flipped it upside down... So it sad and ruined 😔

2. Egg Salad Sandwich

When I was researching about my trip, I saw so many raving reviews about this so I had to try it. I am not sure if it was because I had such high expectations for this, or maybe because I am Asian so I am already accustomed to this style of egg salad, it didn't give me the WOW effect.

Don't get me wrong it was good, but it just didn't blow me away

3. Ice Cream Egg Pudding

This one was not for me. probably because I am not a huge ice cream fan and the frozen egg pudding is rock hard so it doesn't have that jelly goodness. Maybe ice-cream lovers will like this.

4. Chill Out Relaxation Drink

When I read the can I felt like I had to try this. The fast pace lifestyle of Japan, rushing from one place to another while having endless things to buy and look at definitely got my adrenaline constantly running.

So when I saw this can I had to try it. I am not sure what is in it or if it works.... but it did not taste very good....... I couldn't finish the can...... I had 4 sips and sadly I had to pour it out.

5. Cola Pop Rock Candy Ice Cream

As I said earlier, I am not a huge ice cream fan, but I rally enjoyed this. I love the pop rock candy and I love the slushy cola syrup mixture. This is something I will look forward do even when I am back in Hong Kong

6. Ikura Onigiri

This one was meh..... it didn't have enough fillings and many of the ikura inside had already popped....

7. Strawberry Milk

This one I bought a few times while in Japan because it was just too good. It had real Strawberry fruit inside and it tastes just like a fresh strawberry milkshake that I would order as those specialty cafes. Me and my husband would always fight for the last sip.

8. Premium Gold Green Tea Ice Cream

I didn't know what made this gold or premium, it just felt like very regular green tea ice cream to me.

9. Strawberry Macaron Ice Cream Sandwhich

This was pretty good. I do feel that you can never go wrong with Strawberry things in Japan.

I was surprised that the macaron was not soggy at all.

10. Pizza Roll.

Honestly... I don't remember eating this.... so it couldn't have been that good.

11. Mentaiko Pasta

OMG, This is better than so many of the pasta places that I go to in Hong Kong by far.

The pasta is truly al dente and the umami flavor from the mentaiko combined with buttery goodness

you really can't go wrong.

12. Lawson Fried Chicken

This isn't the viral fried chicken that I see ppl talking about. Instead this is the chicken nuggets / pop corn Chicken. Still really good and I do regret not eating more of this
