Day 1: Sultan Ibrahim - a fish restaurant in Tel Aviv, Israel
It was a super hot day. We have been walking under the sun for a couple hours and we just wanted to find a place with air conditioning and sit down. We found Sultan Ibrahim (Eat 4) nearby. When we peeked in, we saw someone enjoying some hummus. We love hummus and wanted to have some hummus from Israeli people. At some point before the trip, we set a goal to have hummus at least once a day.
After sitting down, we were greeted with a strong fishy smell. Turns out it is a fish restaurant. Ironically, we are not a fan of fish and turns out hummus even on their menu!
We asked the waiter where I can find hummus on the menu as we see some people eating hummus in the restaurant. Turns out those people work at the restaurant and the hummus is part of their staff meal.
The restaurant owner is so nice and made us a plate of hummus on the house. A special order just for us.
We then ordered a salad and calamari.
Not sure if it's because people tend to eat a lot in Israel or the owner was just being super kind, she was afraid we would get hungry and insisted on giving us more food on the house. More bread and rice.
At the end, I saw photos of mixed seafood plancha on google and just had to order it. Their plancha is so good. So many different herbs and spice. Yum.
This was a meal for 2 people. We couldn't finish all the food. Too much bread and rice.
We notice all soft drinks in a can comes with a tin foil wrap at the tops. Anyone know the purpose? For hygiene or just for aesthetic?
Anyways, saw some funny signs and decorations in their washroom. "No farting"....
