Day 1 - Flying to Seoul in Spring 2023 and Airbnb at LG Palace in Hongdae
This is actually the 3rd trip to Seoul within 6 months. Flying on Korean Air again, a red eye flight from Hong Kong to Seoul. There are cheaper airlines, but they don't include food or baggage allowance. When you add those into the fare, it's not much cheaper. Mostly importantly, cheaper airline always cancel their flight. Even if there is any refund, the whole trip is ruined. So, it just feels better to stick with bigger airline. Love that Korean Air tickets come with one 23kg baggage allowance.
It's bibimbab on the flight again. Super simple meal, but tastes so good compared with to other inflight meals we have. So little meat but still manage to tastes so good.
Don't know much about food prep and cost, but this feels like it would cost less, but at the same time taste good. I wish all airline can have bibimbab no matter it's departing from.
May not look nice, but the taste is there.
We booked an Airbnb studio that is within the LG Palace building (Stay 9). The building is literally right next to exit 9 of Hongik University Station which is along the line of the airport railway. It is so convenient to get here. By airport railway, it is about 45 minutes. The building is surrounded by shops for the younger generation. Lots of trendy clothes. Lots of restaurants as well, that closes around midnight to 2am. So, there is always food available even late at night. Just outside exit 9, there are also tents/food stalls lined up selling Korean street food at night. The building is connected to the metro, so if it's raining outside, we don't have to get wet in order to get to our room.
This is the entrance of the room. Left side is the shower, laundry and toilet. Walk straight in and it's the 3 comfy queen beds and a small dining area.
It's not super big, but is much better than a hotel room for the same price. It has all the amenities we need, like steam iron, blow drying, washing machine, heater, AC and even a robot vacuum that comes out every day to clean up the floor.
A long table to seat 6 people but it's not a functional kitchen. Can't cook in it.
Love how the shower and toilet is completely separated so things won't get wet. The shower is kind of ghetto though. The water heater is poor installed. Feels like it's going to fall apart anytime soon. At least it's clean. The water pressure isn't very high. That is the only thing I can complain about the room
Quite bright during the day even with no lights on.
We end up messing up the room within minutes though.
Another thing I love about the room is that there are many plugs for all countries in the room. At least 4 power bar like this spread out the place.
