Day 4 - Taichung YiJing Fresh 一井水產

As recommended by a friend we came to YiJing 一井水產 (Eat 48) in Taichung for some fresh urchin and steak! It's not located in a bustling area. So, not many shopping or restaurants nearby. YiJing is a frozen meat and seafood store.

There are 2 floors to YiJing. On the first floor, there are some fresh seafood and frozen ones.

There is also a fridge with some pretty awesome looking wagyu beef and sashimi.

On the 2nd floor, there are more fridge with frozen seafood. Mostly importantly, there is a kitchen, so everything we bought in the store can be cooked and prepared on the spot!

Get a pack of sea urchin, add NT$499 and they will make it into a set with egg and salmon row rice.

We ordered a US beef sirloin instead of wagyu. First, because we are too poor for wagyu. Second, we have been constantly full and our stomach can't take anymore oil. Felt like we were going to throw up any time.

Love how they pair the steak with seaweed. Very savory.

Here comes the sea urchin rice set. Half the sea urchin that comes with the set has been mixed into the rice, hence it's yellow. Then there is a bowl of salmon roe on the side to add to the rice.

Personally, I like eating it with a piece of seaweed than with rice. It's hard to get really fresh sea urchin. Very often when we eat sea urchin in restaurant, there is a bitterness to it as it wasn't too fresh. This batch was very sweet, no bitterness at all.
