Day 6 - Taipei - Ximending

Checking out what Ximending (Buy 8) is like after so many years. 

There are still alot of people and the street still lined with Taiwanese street food.

Still many shops selling random clothes, accessories and shoes.  Quality is good.  Mostly feels like things we can see on Taobao.  So, we didn't buy anything.  

We used to love getting Taiwanese scallions wrap with eggs and meat floss.  So, we immediately got one when we saw a stall selling it.  Sadly it's just not as good as we remembered.

Saw another man selling it and wanted to try if his would be better.  Turns out to be even worse.  His is too oily and just not good.... either they don't make it as good anymore or the taste in memories is always better than reality.

Something that I don't understand Cho likes is Taiwanese style steak - 人从众厚切牛排(台北西門店) (Eat 58). To me, I think it's too much sauce and the meat has been soaked in baking soda too long that it has lost the meat texture and flavor.  Somehow, it's appealing to Cho....

A sirloin set is NT$280 and there is a self serve bar with unlimited tea, garlic bread and soup.   For people that aren't ordering a set, it would cost NT$60 just  to sit, in case that  person eat at the self serve bar.

The place has serious hygiene issues.  There were cockroaches crawling on the self serve bar.  I immediately lost my appetite. 

The Red House (Buy 25) is finally open this time that I am there. Inside is a cafe and souvenir shop.

This area just doesn't interest us anymore.  Nothing much to eat and nothing to buy or see.
